The LPBC was present at the Boulder Creek Festival on May 27th, 28th, & 29th in downtown Boulder. The event was the usual mob riot of festival attractions. Candidates and Volunteers joined LPBC board members in greeting (& quizing) hundreds of BCF guests. Petition circulators from all over the Front Range used our booth as an HQ for their operations. Many petition booklets were filled and notarized.
Norm Olsen Congress in District 2; Randy Luallin County Commissioner; & Bo Shaffer; Sheriff, were present at different times throughout the three-day event.

Between 3pm on Saturday and 7pm on Sunday 1203 WSPQ were administered. 99 were collected on Monday.

This tally only reflects those that we were able to maintain control over or were collected. Some prospects took their quizzes and blanks. Others were tossed, which I did see on the ground, so we know we served more.
The most impressive work was done by Mike Spalding (JeffCoLP) and Isaac Davenport (LPBC) in what appeared to be a contest of how many people each activist could handle in a conversation at the same time. Fast talking for the cause of liberty!
16 people filled in "I want to be involved" contact sheets.
There were many newcomers, including Gregory Stinston and family. Gregory has been present at several months worth of lunches and is the Outreach Director of Colorado NORML. After some friction with the clerk's office in Weld, Rev. Stinston changed his affiliation at our booth.
Cameo appearances from Bob Newman and some other closet LibsÖÿ
And there were experienced hands to guide us like: Howard Lambert and Judd Ptak.

A resounding success!

Convention happenings:

The state party convention and caucus was held on May 13th in Denver. Please visit the state website for more information.

At the LPBC April 12th board meeting Norm Olsen announced his intention to run for Congress in District 2. Mr. Olsen is the former chair of the state party and has twice before run for CD2 in 2002 and 2004

Local Activists have recently been challeged by business owners and managers while circulating petitions. Boulder Police have been telling petition circulators that they can only work the crowds on the Pearl Street Mall. They are wrong and have opened themselves up for action by the Attorney General of the state. Please read this PDF file: Legal Protection Of Petition Circulators

Dec 20th Publicity Director Paul Tiger, appeared on the front page of the Longmont Daily Times-Call speaking to the issues of egregious and inflated fines and court costs levied by the Longmont City Council and inflicted by municipal judge Diana VanDeHey.
Not only has the city increased the late fine for campaign reporting to 6 times the statutory demand, it's city clerk has decided that the violations made by the Mayor of that law can be overlooked. Many citizens do not agree that Mayor Pirnack is a special person who should not be fined.
In a separate but related issue, Judge VanDeHey refuses to release information about her court's fine and fee schedule. She claims that this is confidential information
The Denver Post; Rocky Mountain News; and Longmont Times Call have all taken interest in Judge VanDeHey's secretive actions and continued silence.
At the request of LPBC Director Tiger, the Longmont City Attorney and City Clerk are investigating the possibility of a recall election for Judge VanDeHey.
